Jha stated that such silence is even more distressing given the context of previous election promises made by these leaders.

Addressing reporters, Jha conveyed his frustration, suggesting that the lack of empathy displayed by those in power is evident. He claimed that a pattern of insensitivity has emerged among government officials, stressing that empathy cannot be delivered through superficial means. “Your inner empathy has died; it is almost a failed state,” Jha remarked, emphasising the need for genuine concern and responsiveness from authorities.

Pappu Yadav Highlights Political Response to Social Media Outcry

Independent MP Pappu Yadav also commented on the situation in Banka, noting that political reactions often arise only following the spread of such incidents on social media. Yadav suggested that when these events garner media attention, the authorities start acknowledging them more seriously. He expressed deep concern about the safety of young girls, questioning the environment in which they live and suggesting that drug abuse among the youth exacerbates the risk of harassment.

Yadav elaborated on the severity of similar incidents across various regions, citing cases from Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, and Madhepura, describing them as increasingly horrific. His statements drew attention to the broader societal issues surrounding safety and accountability, urging for immediate and effective action from political leaders.

He stressed that accountability must extend to every level of society, urging a collective commitment to ensuring that young women can travel safely within their communities.

Union Minister Chirag Paswan Calls for Increased Accountability

Union Minister Chirag Paswan has categorised the series of incidents involving minors as a “grave concern.” He highlighted the need for accountability not only for the alleged perpetrators but also for the officials responsible for ensuring safety in these incidents. Paswan pointed to specific instances of prompt action taken in response to crimes but asserted that arrests alone would not suffice.

In his statements, Paswan mentioned the necessity of establishing a zero-tolerance policy towards such crimes. He underscored the importance of fostering an environment where fear of legal consequences prevents further misconduct. He indicated discussions held with the Chief Minister regarding the urgency of implementing robust measures to ensure the safety of minors across the state.

Paswan’s remarks came in the wake of an incident that drew widespread media attention when a video surfaced allegedly showing a minor girl being harassed at Mandar Hill. The local police have since detained three individuals linked to the incident, and a case has been registered with multiple relevant legal sections. Their investigation continues, aiming to clarify the circumstances surrounding this distressing event.

Police Investigate Recent Incident Involving Minor

Following the emergence of the distressing video concerning the Banka incident, Banka Superintendent of Police Amitesh Kumar stated that the identified suspects are currently being interrogated. He added that preliminary investigations revealed that a sum of Rs 1,500 may have been transferred from the victim’s account, raising additional concerns about the nature of the case.

Kumar detailed the police response upon discovering the video, clarifying how the inquiry commenced after local authorities were made aware of the incident via social media. The police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against unknown individuals initially, and efforts were subsequently made to ascertain their identities, culminating in swift action against the alleged offenders.

The police reiterated their commitment to thoroughly investigating all aspects of the case to ensure justice for the victim, highlighting the imperative of restoring public trust in safety measures following such unfortunate occurrences.
