The wife of an Additional District Judge was discovered deceased in a train washroom in the Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh. The railway police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death, with preliminary indications suggesting a possible heart attack as the cause.

Usha Chauhan, the wife of Judge Rajkumar Chauhan, was travelling on the Kanchiguda–Bhagat Kothi Express at the time of the incident. Judge Chauhan is currently stationed in Nimbahera, Rajasthan, and was travelling with his wife from Jodhpur to Nimbahera.

Separation During Journey Raises Concerns

During the journey, the couple had booked seats in different coaches. Usha Chauhan reportedly informed her husband via phone that she was heading to the washroom just before the train reached Nimbahera station.

When the train arrived, Judge Chauhan disembarked and awaited his wife’s arrival, but she did not return. Growing concerned, he searched both the platform and his coach but was unable to locate her. Judge Chauhan subsequently notified the railway police, prompting them to commence a search operation.

Initial Search Efforts Prove Unsuccessful

Acting on the alert from Judge Chauhan, railway officials halted the train at Mandsaur station to facilitate checks of the coaches. Despite these efforts, Usha Chauhan was not located in the initial searches. Railway authorities then utilized the location of her mobile phone, which revealed it to still be on the train. This information allowed the officials to continue their search as the train continued toward Ratlam district.

Tragic Discovery in Train Washroom

The search ultimately directed police to a locked washroom in the reserved coach at Jaora station. After determining that the door was locked from the inside, officials forcibly opened it. Inside, they found Usha Chauhan unconscious. She was quickly transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent care, but doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival. Preliminary examinations indicate a potential heart attack, though authorities confirmed that further verification will adhere to standard investigation protocols.

Formalities and Ongoing Inquiry

Following the completion of necessary formalities, Usha Chauhan’s body was returned to her family. Meanwhile, the railway police have commenced an inquiry to ascertain the precise circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. As investigations continue, authorities aim to provide clarity on the events leading up to her death. Further results and findings from the inquiry will follow procedural norms as established for such cases.
