A Government Railway Police (GRP) constable was assaulted and publicly humiliated at Rani Kamlapati Railway Station in Bhopal after he confronted a group of men consuming alcohol inside a parked car late Saturday night.
The disturbing episode unfolded in the early hours of April 27, when Head Constable Nazar Daulat Khan approached a group of youths spotted drinking on railway property. What began as a routine warning soon escalated into a violent clash. The group reacted aggressively, physically assaulting the officer and tearing his uniform during the altercation.
Footage from the incident, now circulating online, shows Khan being punched while seated in his official vehicle. Onlookers can be seen attempting to stop the attack. The video ends with the officer walking away, his uniform visibly shredded.
Mob Turns Violent After Officer’s Name Revealed
Two of Khan’s colleagues, identified as Sandeep and Kamal, tried to step in to defuse the situation, but the group overpowered their efforts. The attackers reportedly became more hostile upon learning Khan’s name, allegedly making communal remarks before assaulting him.
Khan immediately reported the assault to the nearest GRP outpost. Acting on his complaint, police have arrested one suspect, identified as Jitendra Yadav. Meanwhile, two of his accomplices fled the scene and remain at large.
Authorities have launched a manhunt to locate the absconding suspects and have confirmed an active investigation is underway. The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of frontline officers enforcing public conduct laws.
