The CSR Journal Magazine

Porsche officially launched the electric versions of the Cayenne in India, offering two distinct variants: the Cayenne Electric and the Cayenne Turbo Electric. The starting price is set at Rs 1.77 crore (ex-showroom), with deliveries anticipated to begin on September 30. Both variants are equipped with a 113kWh battery and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration.

The Cayenne Electric is priced at Rs 1.77 crore, while the more performance-oriented Cayenne Turbo Electric is available for Rs 2.27 crore (ex-showroom). The petrol-powered models of the Cayenne will continue to be available for customers alongside these new electric offerings.

The standard Cayenne Electric delivers a power output of 408bhp, which can increase to 442bhp with the Launch Control feature. It generates 835Nm of torque and can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds, achieving a top speed of 230km/h. The Cayenne Turbo Electric raises the performance standards, offering 1,156bhp and 1,150Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.5 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 260km/h.

Exterior Features and Dimensions of the Cayenne Electric

The electric Cayenne retains the traditional SUV dimensions but features a revised front design tailored to its electric powertrain. The closed grille, active aerodynamic vents, and Matrix LED headlights with Porsche’s signature four-point daytime running lights mark the exterior updates. The vehicle measures 4,985mm in length, 1,980mm in width, and 1,674mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,023mm, slightly lengthening it compared to the combustion engine variant.

Practicality remains a priority, with a 90-litre front storage compartment and 781 litres of rear luggage capacity. The boot space can expand to 1,588 litres when the rear seats are folded. The Cayenne Electric can also tow loads up to 3,000kg, increasing to 3,500kg when equipped with the Offroad Package.

The interior features a 14.5-inch curved central touchscreen, complemented by a fully digital instrument cluster. Optional upgrades include a 14.9-inch display for the front passenger and an augmented-reality head-up display. Standard features comprise eight-way electrically adjustable front seats, with an 18-way upgrade available, alongside four-zone climate control and a sliding panoramic roof.

Performance and Charging Capabilities of Cayenne Electric

Both variants of the Cayenne Electric utilise the 113kWh Performance Battery. The standard model is claimed to have a WLTP range of up to 642km, while the Turbo Electric can cover up to 623km on a full charge. The model supports DC fast charging capabilities of up to 390kW, allowing a charge from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 16 minutes under optimal conditions. A range of 290km to 324km can reportedly be reclaimed in just 10 minutes of charging, depending on the model and conditions.

AC charging is available at up to 22kW, requiring around 5.75 hours for a full charge with a suitable charger. Porsche is introducing an optional 11kW wireless charging system in India, establishing the Cayenne Electric as the first model in the country to offer inductive charging capabilities.

The Cayenne Turbo Electric is bolstered with advanced chassis upgrades, including adaptive air suspension and enhanced performance brakes. It also features active aerodynamic components, with the introduction of Porsche Electric Sport Sound, further enhancing the driving experience.
