According to municipal regulations, Hakim must officially submit his resignation letter to either the Chairperson or the Commissioner of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC).

Speaking on the matter, Kunal Ghosh revealed that Hakim had repeatedly expressed his willingness to step down, citing an environment where it had become increasingly difficult to function effectively.
