The CSR Journal Magazine

A passenger aboard an Akasa Air flight from Delhi to Goa was handed over to authorities after allegedly smoking a beedi inside the aircraft’s washroom. This incident occurred on Saturday during flight QP1625, according to law enforcement officials. The individual involved, identified as Ashish and hailing from Delhi, reportedly used the washroom to smoke during the journey. The airline’s complaint highlighted that the passenger was in possession of a lighter, raising significant safety concerns for both the passenger cabin and the aircraft itself.

Safety Concerns Raised

Police authorities stated that the act posed a risk to the safety of fellow travelers and crew members. Smoking inside an aircraft is strictly prohibited given the potential hazards associated with fire and smoke in such an enclosed environment. Akasa Air’s crew members adhered to established safety protocols following the discovery of smoking on board, ensuring the matter was addressed promptly upon arrival in Goa.

Legal Action Taken

A case has been filed against the individual at the Mopa airport police station, citing relevant sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Safety of Civil Aviation Act. Akasa Air has indicated that it is cooperating fully with legal authorities in the ongoing investigation related to this incident.
