The CSR Journal Magazine

The Nothing Headphone 1 Pro has been officially unveiled following a series of promotional teasers. This new model represents the brand’s flagship offering in the over-ear headphone segment, specifically targeting the premium market currently led by established competitors such as Sony, Apple, and Bose.

Retaining the design ethos of its predecessor, the Headphone 1, the Pro version introduces significant upgrades including a three-driver audio system, enhanced noise cancellation, an extended battery life, and a more luxurious build. However, these advancements come with an increased price compared to the original model.

Specifications and Features of the Headphone 1 Pro

The Headphone 1 Pro boasts an intricate three-driver system designed for optimal sound quality. It incorporates a 40mm dynamic driver responsible for bass frequencies, a 13x8mm precision dynamic driver for midrange sounds, and a compact xMEMS driver featuring a silicone diaphragm for treble reproduction. The headphones deliver a frequency response range spanning from 20Hz to 40,000Hz and are certified for Hi-Res Audio.

In collaboration with Metropolis Studios, critical audio tuning has been applied to elevate sound performance. The headphones also include features such as Personal Sound and a Flat EQ option, easily adjustable via a dedicated Switch button. Additionally, the Dynamic Spatial Audio capability with head tracking enhances the listening experience by creating an immersive audio environment, allowing users to select from multiple sound modes, including Standard, Live House, Club, and Concert Hall.

To facilitate superior noise cancellation, Nothing has integrated a total of ten microphones into the design. The adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) reportedly reduces ambient noise by up to 46dB, complemented by a Transparency mode that allows users to remain aware of their surroundings during use. Furthermore, a four-microphone array enhances call quality.

Design and Connectivity Options

Visually, the Headphone 1 Pro retains some familiar elements from the original model while elevating the material quality. The frame is constructed from durable aluminium and lightweight titanium, while the ear cups are encased in scratch-resistant glass. The new design features a headband that is ten per cent wider, improved padding for added comfort, and more flexible ear cups with softer cushions.

Weighing in at 327 grams, the headphones are rated at IP52 for dust and water resistance, ensuring durability, and include tactile switches for ease of use. In terms of connectivity, the Pro version supports Bluetooth 6.1, along with compatibility for Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair, and instant setup for Apple devices. The headphones can also connect to two devices simultaneously and offer features such as low-latency mode and auto-wear detection.

Supporting a variety of codecs, including AAC, SBC, LDAC, and LC3, the Headphone 1 Pro allows for lossless audio streaming via USB-C. The device is powered by a robust 1,060mAh battery, providing up to 30 hours of use with ANC activated and up to 68 hours when it is disabled, with additional details revealing 28 hours of use on LDAC with ANC and 53 hours without.

Pricing and Availability of the Headphone 1 Pro

The Nothing Headphone 1 Pro carries a retail price of $399, equivalent to approximately Rs 38,300, marking an approximately $100 increase compared to the launch price of the original Headphone 1. The headphones will be available in two colour options: Black and White.

Official sales are set to commence on September 29 through Nothing’s official website, Amazon, and Best Buy stores across North America. Although the headphones have been listed on Nothing’s Indian website, the company has yet to announce pricing or availability details for the Indian market.
