NIA Conducts Raids at Multiple Locations in Jammu and Kashmir

The CSR Journal Magazine

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has launched a significant operation by conducting searches at ten locations throughout Jammu and Kashmir. This operation aims to investigate a conspiracy linked to cross-border terrorism involving handlers based in Pakistan and a network of local Over Ground Workers (OGWs). These local workers are accused of facilitating logistical support to infiltrated terrorists.

The raids took place across various districts, including Srinagar, Kupwara, Anantnag, Pulwama, and Budgam. According to the NIA, the objective was to gather additional documentary, digital, and material evidence that could elucidate the roles of individuals allegedly involved in this local support network.

Details of the Case

The case emerged from FIR No. 0024/2026, originally filed at Zakoora Police Station in Srinagar. It was re-registered by the NIA this year under several legal provisions, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the Arms Act, 1959, and the Explosive Substances Act, 1908. The investigation began following the arrest of an OGW linked to the banned terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) on the night of March 31 at a naka point, where a hand grenade and live ammunition were recovered.

Subsequent investigations revealed alleged links between Pakistani terrorists and the local network. Several arrests were made, which helped to identify the members and establish their alleged roles within the support system.

According to statements from the NIA, the investigation has shown direct connections between the handlers based in Pakistan and local operatives. These individuals are reportedly responsible for various activities such as facilitating communication, making logistical arrangements, and providing shelter to terrorists.

Ongoing Investigations and Future Actions

The NIA is also focusing on the financial aspects of the conspiracy, looking into communication channels and the movements of suspects to uncover the sources of arms and explosives. This effort aims to map out the complete network and assess the extent of its operations.

The agency reported that the recent raids are part of its ongoing inquiry into broader conspiracies and mechanisms that support cross-border terrorism. Evidence secured during these operations is currently under examination and will be correlated with previously collected materials.

The NIA has emphasised its commitment to identifying all participants involved in this conspiracy and clarifying their specific roles. It has indicated that additional legal actions, including further arrests or material recoveries, may occur depending on the investigation’s outcomes.
