A 22-year-old man named Tonis Kumar, resident of Tetri Dandari in Begusarai district, Bihar was shot dead at his in-laws’ place in Janglimandal Tola, Mathar in Khagaria. Case registered against five people, four arrested, including the deceased’s wife, mother-in-law and father-in-law. Police suspect an illicit affair behind the murder.
Tonis got married on December 9 last year, and for the first time after marriage he had gone to his in-law’s place on January 10. Tonis’ uncle, Niranjan Yadav, alleges that while staying at his in-law’s home, Tonis grew suspicious over his wife being involved in an illicit relationship with a relative of hers. Tonis objected to this and fought with his wife. Yadav states that on January 15, they received a call from Tonis’s wife that he had gone for a walk in the field and someone shot him dead.
Investigation Underway
After receiving a call about the incident, SP Rakesh Kumar, a police team led by ASP-cum-Sadar SDPO Mukul Kumar Ranjan and Mufassil Station House Officer (In-charge) Sangeeta Kumari immediately reached the crime scene, inspected and secured the place. They inspected the area and secured the crime scene for further investigation. Tonis’ uncle shared that Tonis was staying at his in-laws’ place for over five days now and he was shot at a temple there. Police are currently conducting raids to arrest the accused named in the complaint.
This case has triggered shock and speculation in the area and police are taking preventive measures so that the situation doesn’t get worse and law-and-order is maintained in the locality. In an official statement Khagaria SP Rakesh Kumar has confirmed that four have been arrested in the matter and the investigation is underway, the crime scene has been secured.
