Mir Yar Baloch accuses Pakistan of lying to US over Balochistan’s mineral wealth

The CSR Journal Magazine

A day after the announcement of the United Nations’ trade agreement with Pakistan to explore the ‘massive oil reserve’, Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch has rejected Pakistan’s claim. He posted a letter addressed to former U.S. President Donald Trump on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the oil, gas, copper, uranium, and other rare minerals are located in the territory of Balochistan and do not belong to Pakistan. He emphasized that these resources are solely the property of the Baloch people.

Earlier in June, Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir had met President Trump at the White House to discuss Balochistan’s rare earth minerals and to strike a potential deal.

Mir Yar Baloch’s Post

In his post, Mir Yar Baloch accused the Pakistani leadership and Army General Asim Munir of misrepresenting facts to U.S. officials. He asserted that Trump had been misled and that Pakistan is making false claims for financial gain. He made it clear that Balochistan is not for sale, and warned that no foreign power, including the U.S. or China, will be allowed to exploit Balochistan’s minerals, stating: “This is a non-negotiable sovereignty.”

Dealing with Pakistan is Sponsoring Terror

Baloch not only asserted Balochistan’s ownership of the resources but also warned that any revenue generated from them would be misused by Pakistan. He claimed it would be routed to the ISI to fuel the rogue agency’s operations and support anti-India and anti-Israel jihadist networks, thereby increasing global security threats.

He wrote in his post:

“Allowing Pakistan’s radicalized military and rogue ISI, known for sponsoring Al-Qaeda and various proxy groups responsible for the deaths of thousands of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan, to exploit Balochistan’s trillion-dollar reserves of rare earth minerals would be a grave strategic mistake. Such access would significantly enhance the operational and financial capabilities of the ISI, enabling it to expand its global terror networks, recruit more militants, and potentially facilitate large-scale attacks reminiscent of 9/11.”

What Balochistan Stores

As one of Pakistan’s largest provinces, Balochistan remains largely unexplored, yet it holds some of the world’s richest critical mineral reserves — including gold, copper, chromite, lithium, and rare earth metals.

Republic of Balochistan

In his letter, Baloch also mentioned that Balochistan was declared an independent entity in May 2025. He urged the United States and the global community to recognize it as a sovereign nation and called upon the United Nations for official recognition.
