Ministry of Home Affairs Launches Special Campaign 6 for Greener Workplaces

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is preparing to engage in Special Campaign 6, an initiative designed to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly workplaces while also addressing various outstanding references and issues. Organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the campaign aims to particularly focus on field and outstation offices that interact directly with the public.

The initiative is structured in two distinct phases: a preparation phase from September 15 to September 30, followed by an implementation phase from October 2 to October 31. The intent of the campaign encompasses enhancing workplace cleanliness, streamlining operations, and tackling unresolved grievances efficiently.

Additionally, Special Campaign 6 will address delays in a range of references, including those from Members of Parliament, state governments, Parliament assurances, inter-ministerial consultations, public grievances, and appeals. Another focal point will be improved record management to facilitate operational efficiency.

Implementation and Monitoring

The execution of Special Campaign 6 will be overseen at the highest level within the ministry, ensuring effective monitoring and accountability. The MHA has reported that both the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Central Police Organisations (CPOs) have been informed about the campaign’s significance and have been urged to exert extra effort to meet the campaign’s aims.

The ministry expresses its commitment to institutionalising the improvements achieved through this campaign. Continued efforts will focus on maintaining cleanliness in workplace environments, ensuring efficient record management practices, and promoting the timely resolution of pending matters. The end goal is to establish cleaner, greener, and more efficient workspaces across the organisation.

Throughout the previous phases of the campaign, from November 2025 to August 2026, the MHA reported substantial advances in clearing pending matters and improving workplace conditions. A total of 761 Swachhta campaigns were logged at various locations, including MHA field and outstation offices.

Achievements and Data Management

During the earlier campaign period, 299 references from Members of Parliament and 336 references from state governments were successfully resolved, along with seven references from the Prime Minister’s Office. The Ministry also successfully addressed 52,050 public grievances and 7,410 public grievance appeals within that timeframe.

In the process of enhancing operational efficiency, the MHA has managed to free up 1,02,084 square feet of office space across its various locations, which profoundly supports its sustainability goals. This effort is seen as a crucial component of the ministry’s overarching strategy to improve working environments.

To support the efficient gathering and accuracy of data related to this campaign, the MHA has implemented an intra-ministry portal. This platform allows all divisions within the ministry, along with Union Territories and the Delhi Police, to upload pertinent campaign-related data, thereby facilitating effective coordination and timely consolidation of accurate information.
