Massive Fire Breaks Out in Mumbai Lift After Gas-Filled Balloons Blast, CCTV Footage Viral

The CSR Journal Magazine

A fire broke out inside a lift of a residential building in Mumbai on Wednesday after a set of gas-filled balloons suddenly burst. The incident was captured on the lift’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera, showing a man and a woman engulfed in flames moments after the explosion.

Two People Sustain Injuries in Lift Fire

According to police, the incident occurred when two individuals carrying gas-filled balloons entered the lift. A woman was already present inside. As the lift doors closed, the balloons unexpectedly exploded, leading to a fire inside the confined space.

Both the man and the woman sustained injuries due to the sudden fire. They were immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. Details regarding the severity of their injuries have not yet been disclosed.

Case Registered Against Balloon Seller

Following the incident, the police registered a case against the person believed to have sold the balloons. Officials stated that while it has yet to be confirmed what type of gas was used to inflate the balloons, the substance appears to have been highly flammable.

Authorities are now examining samples and reviewing CCTV footage to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the fire. Investigators are also working to identify whether proper safety protocols were followed and who may be held accountable for the hazardous materials involved.

Police Continue Investigation into Gas Type and Safety Violations

The specific composition of the gas used in the balloons remains unknown at this stage. Investigators are looking into whether the gas was helium, hydrogen, or any other potentially dangerous substance. Experts have been called in to assist with the forensic analysis.

Police have confirmed that they are actively pursuing leads and conducting inquiries to ensure such incidents do not reoccur. The identity of the individual who brought the balloons into the building and their purpose for being there are also being closely examined.

The building management has not issued a statement on the matter. Meanwhile, residents have been urged to exercise caution and report any suspicious activities or materials that could pose a safety risk.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
