Manipur Woman Bleeds to Death, Husband Injured in Delhi After Domestic Dispute

The CSR Journal Magazine

A woman originally from Manipur died and her husband was seriously injured in a suspected domestic violence case in South West Delhi’s Munirka village, police said on Monday.

The deceased, 27-year-old Thempi Khongsai, hailed from Senapati district of Manipur and worked as a beautician in Delhi. Her partner, identified as Thangjam Viney Meitei, a grocery store owner from Bishnupur district of Manipur, is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS Trauma Centre. Police said the couple had been living together in Munirka for the past three years.

Argument Turned Violent Before Tragedy

According to police, a fight broke out between the two on Sunday evening. During the quarrel, Khongsai reportedly called her father to inform him that she had been injured in the altercation and requested help. Alarmed, her father contacted the landlady of the building, asking her to check on the couple.

The landlady’s daughter subsequently made a PCR call around 8 PM, alerting Kishangarh Police Station.

Police Break Down Locked Doors, Find Couple in Blood

Upon arriving at the scene, police found the main entrance and the bathroom door locked from the inside. They forcibly entered the house and discovered both individuals lying unconscious on the bathroom floor, bleeding from their necks. A blood-stained knife was recovered from the spot.

Thempi Khongsai was declared dead at AIIMS Trauma Centre due to a deep cut on the back of her neck, which led to profuse bleeding. Meitei, also injured, is currently under medical care and has not yet been declared fit to give a statement.

Neighbours Shocked; Forensics Begin Evidence Collection

Ravinder, a neighbour, said that upon returning from work around 9 PM, he saw several police vehicles at the site. He expressed shock at the incident, noting that the couple had lived in the building for about three to four years.

Landlady Premwati, 74, told police that she initially spoke to Meitei through the door. He claimed he was in the bathroom, but after repeated knocking and getting no response, she peered through a window and saw the room was empty despite the lights being on. This prompted her to ask her daughter to contact the police.

Post-Mortem Conducted; Investigation Underway

Police have called in crime and forensic teams for evidence collection. Khongsai’s post-mortem was conducted on Monday evening, and the report is awaited. Authorities are also waiting for medical confirmation on whether Meitei’s injuries were self-inflicted or defensive wounds from a possible struggle.
