In a shocking case from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, a man was brutally attacked and abandoned in a forest, allegedly by his wife and her brothers, in a planned murder attempt. The victim, Rajiv, is now recovering after being found in critical condition by a passerby who saved his life.
Wife, In-Laws Accused as 11 Attack Bareilly Man in Murder Bid
Rajiv, who works as a doctor’s assistant at Navodaya Hospital in Bareilly, was assaulted on July 21 by a group of 11 people. Police say the attackers included hired men allegedly arranged by Rajiv’s wife, Sadhana, and her five brothers—Bhagwan Das, Premraj, Harish, Laxman, and one unnamed sibling.
The assailants reportedly beat Rajiv severely, breaking his legs and one arm, before transporting him to a jungle in the CB Ganj area. There, they had dug a pit and planned to bury him alive. However, their plan was interrupted when a stranger unexpectedly arrived at the scene, causing the group to flee in panic.

The unidentified bystander found Rajiv in the pit, conscious but unable to call for help due to his injuries. The good Samaritan called emergency services, and Rajiv was rushed to a private hospital where he is now under treatment.
The case came to light after Rajiv’s father, Netram, filed a complaint with the Izzatnagar police. “They wanted to kill my son,” he alleged, demanding the immediate arrest of his daughter-in-law and her brothers. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the alleged conspiracy.
Despite Owning Village House, Couple Moved to City at Wife’s Urging
Rajiv and Sadhana had been married since 2009 and have two sons—Yash, 14, and Luv, 8—both of whom attend a private school. Although the family owns a house in their village, they had moved to a rented home in the city. According to Netram, the shift was made because Sadhana didn’t want to live in the village.
Authorities are now searching for all named suspects and have not ruled out the involvement of additional individuals. Rajiv remains hospitalised as the investigation continues.
