A 52-year-old man reportedly killed his 50-year-old wife before taking his own life at their residence in Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh. The tragic events unfolded on the evening of October 31, following what is believed to be a domestic dispute. Allegations regarding the wife’s character may have contributed to the violent confrontation. The deceased individuals have been identified as Lalput Rathore and his wife Januka Devi.

The couple had eight children, comprising six sons and two daughters, who were present in the house during the incident. One of their sons, an autorickshaw driver, stated that he had left for work around 8 am and was unaware of any disagreements between his parents earlier that day. Upon returning home, he heard his brother Pushpendra crying and shouting, prompting him to rush inside the house.

Upon entering, he discovered both of his parents hanging from a noose. This account, however, differs from the police’s version of events. According to senior police officer Santosh Kumar Singh, Lalput allegedly attacked Januka with a vegetable-cutting knife and subsequently used a brick to inflict fatal injuries before hanging himself.
