Long Queues for LPG Cylinders Observed in Bhopal Amid Assurances of Adequate Supply

The CSR Journal Magazine

In Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, long lines formed outside a local gas agency on Friday as residents waited for their LPG cylinder refills. Witnesses reported that some individuals had stood in line for up to six hours, with many arriving as early as 5 AM. Despite assurances from the government that there is no shortage of LPG supplies across the country, local consumers expressed frustration with the delays they experienced in receiving their cylinders.

Frustrations of Local Consumers

Local resident Wasim shared his experience, stating that he had been waiting since early morning without success. He noted, “We have been standing in line since 5 AM but have still not received the gas cylinder. I have faced difficulties in getting a cylinder for the past three to four days.” Another resident, Ankit Shrivastav, echoed similar sentiments, indicating uncertainty about whether he would receive a cylinder after enduring a lengthy wait under the heat without shade. “I have been standing in the queue since 5:30 AM,” he said, indicating it was his third day trying to obtain a refill.

Gas Agency Responds to Concerns

Krishna Rajput, the operator of the gas agency, stated that his office opens at 10 AM, but people often arrive much earlier in hopes of securing their cylinders. He clarified that the supply of gas cylinders is adequate and affirmed that the agency is taking necessary measures to ensure distribution. “The government is providing cylinders in sufficient quantities, and we are fully cooperating with the supply process,” Rajput explained. He noted that logistical challenges arise due to the restriction of large trucks in urban areas, necessitating the use of smaller vehicles for distribution.

Government Assurances on LPG Supply

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas had previously announced that the supply of petroleum and LPG in India is stable and under control. In a statement, the ministry reassured consumers that all retail fuel outlets are adequately stocked. “There is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG anywhere in the country,” the statement read. Additionally, the ministry urged the public to remain calm and not to succumb to what it described as a “deliberately mischievous, coordinated campaign of misinformation aimed at spreading unnecessary panic.”

Call for Calm from Gas Agency Operator

Amidst the chaotic scenes, Rajput appealed to customers to stay calm and avoid panic. He acknowledged the high volume of people visiting the agency, noting that as many as 400 to 500 individuals come daily. He reiterated the commitment to ensuring that all customers would receive their gas cylinders while encouraging patience among those waiting.
