Kanpur Horror: YouTuber Arrested, Cop on the Run After Gang-Raping Minor

The CSR Journal Magazine

A shocking case has emerged from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, where a 14-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by a local YouTuber and a serving police sub-inspector. The incident reportedly took place on Monday night in the Sachendi area, triggering widespread outrage and swift administrative action after details surfaced on Wednesday.

Abduction and Assault

According to police officials, the minor, who had dropped out of school after Class 7, was allegedly forced into a Mahindra Scorpio around 10 pm. She was taken to a deserted stretch near a railway track, where she was sexually assaulted for nearly two hours. The girl was later abandoned unconscious outside her home. Her statement formed the basis of the FIR.

Accused Identified, One Arrested

Police have named Sub-Inspector Amit Kumar Maurya and local YouTuber Shivbaran Yadav as the accused. Yadav has been arrested, while Maurya remains absconding. Four special police teams have been deployed to track down the missing officer. The Scorpio allegedly used in the crime, registered in Maurya’s name, has been seized as evidence.

“Based on the victim’s statement, Sub-Inspector Amit Kumar Maurya and YouTuber Shivbaran Yadav have been named in the FIR. Yadav has been arrested, while four teams have been formed to nab the absconding SI,” Raghubir Lal told reporters. “The investigation is being conducted with complete transparency, and strict action will be taken against all guilty parties,” Raghubir Lal said.

Questions Over Police Conduct

Investigators revealed that Maurya was present in Sachendi during the incident despite being officially posted at the Bithoor Police Station. The victim’s family has accused local police of attempting to suppress the case, claiming they were initially turned away when they mentioned a police officer’s involvement. The girl’s brother alleged that her mobile phone was confiscated and that she was not allowed to return home until her court statement was recorded.

Senior Officers Face Action

In response to the alleged lapses, Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal removed Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Dinesh Chandra Tripathi and suspended Sachendi Station House Officer Vikram Singh. Singh was accused of failing to invoke the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the initial stage and of distorting case records. Deenanath Mishra has been appointed as the new SHO, while Additional DCP (West) Kapil Dev Singh has taken over the investigation.

Political Outrage and Assurance

The incident has sparked sharp political reactions, with former CPI(M) MP Subhashini Ali meeting the police commissioner to condemn what she described as a culture of impunity in crimes against women. Commissioner Lal assured that the probe is being conducted transparently and that strict action will be taken against all those found guilty.
