Stellantis to Invest Rs 4,000 Crore and Launch 12 New Vehicles in India

The CSR Journal Magazine

Stellantis has revealed plans for a significant investment of approximately Rs 4,000 crore in India as part of its FaSTLAne 2030 strategy. This investment will facilitate the introduction of twelve new products across its Jeep and Citroen brands over the next three years. The company is set to launch seven entirely new products and five major upgrades, with the first launch anticipated in the second quarter of 2027.

The upcoming launches will span various segments, including B, C, and D-segment SUVs, an MPV, an A-segment vehicle, and a premium pickup. Of the twelve products, five will belong to the Jeep brand, while the remaining seven will be under Citroen.

Cumulative Investment and Business Growth

This latest investment will increase Stellantis’ total investment in India from over Rs 11,000 crore to around Rs 15,000 crore by 2030. The Rs 4,000 crore commitment will be distributed over the next three years to support new product launches, enhance localisation efforts, and expand the company’s operations in the country.

This announcement comes at a time when Stellantis India is experiencing improved business performance, having recorded a 35 per cent growth in the second quarter of calendar year 2026 compared to the first quarter. In addition, Citroen has reported a substantial increase in retail sales, which rose by 68 per cent in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same period in the previous year.

This growth indicates a positive trend for both brands within the Indian market. Under the FaSTLAne 2030 strategy, Jeep aims to bolster its position in the premium SUV segment, focusing on expanding its product range and powertrain options while maintaining its commitment to off-road capabilities and distinctive SUV design. Citroen, on the other hand, will concentrate on mainstream and high-volume segments, emphasising comfort, design, and technology to appeal to a broader customer base in India.

Localisation and Export Plans

Localisation is a critical aspect of Stellantis’ strategy, with the company aiming for localisation levels of 90 per cent across both Jeep and Citroen brands. India is expected to play an increasingly significant role in the group’s export initiatives. Currently, Stellantis exports vehicles and components from India to approximately 50 countries, with about 95 per cent of the engines and gearboxes produced at its Hosur facility being exported.

As part of the FaSTLAne 2030 strategy, the company also plans to export vehicles developed in India, aligning with its broader Asia-Pacific strategy. Shailesh Hazela, CEO and Managing Director of Stellantis India, stated that the company would concentrate on expanding its market presence through new product offerings, enhanced localisation, and a more robust sales and service network.

The upcoming product portfolio will adopt a multi-energy approach, incorporating internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, plug-in hybrids, and battery-electric vehicles across both brands. This strategy aims to cater to the evolving preferences of Indian consumers while supporting the company’s long-term growth objectives in the region.
