Israel Conducts New Airstrikes on Iran Following Evacuation Warnings

The CSR Journal Magazine

Israel launched fresh waves of airstrikes on Tehran on Monday, less than an hour after issuing evacuation warnings to residents in parts of the Iranian capital, according to the Israel Defence Forces.

The latest operation follows coordinated US and Israeli airstrikes carried out on February 28 across multiple Iranian cities. Those earlier strikes targeted military command centres, air defence systems, missile facilities and key regime infrastructure. The attacks reportedly resulted in the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and four senior military and security officials, marking a dramatic escalation in hostilities.

Evacuation Notice Preceded Strike

Before the latest bombardment, the IDF issued a rare public warning to residents of Tehran’s Evin neighbourhood, an area housing state media offices and other government-linked facilities. An Israeli military spokesperson cautioned that military infrastructure would be targeted in the coming hours and urged civilians to leave immediately, stating that remaining in the area would put lives at risk.

Explosions were reported in the capital shortly after the warning.

IRIB Studio Complex Among Targets

The IDF confirmed that it struck a studio complex belonging to Iran Broadcasting, known as IRIB. Israel said the facility functioned as a communications centre used by Iranian forces under civilian cover and also served propaganda purposes.

Iran’s state-affiliated Press TV reported that the broadcaster’s headquarters had been targeted but maintained that its channels continued operating without disruption.

The Evin area had previously been hit in June, when an explosion occurred during a live broadcast and Iranian state media later confirmed that one employee had been killed.

Intelligence And Missile Infrastructure Hit

Beyond the broadcasting complex, the Israeli military said it struck headquarters, bases and regional command centres associated with Iran’s internal security apparatus. It also reported targeting more than ten sites linked to Iran’s primary intelligence services under the Ministry of Intelligence.

According to Israeli statements, multiple missile launchers and ballistic missile arrays were also hit, signalling a widening scope of military objectives.

Missiles Launched From Iran

The Israeli Air Force confirmed that missiles were launched from Iran toward Israeli territory. Defence systems were activated to intercept the incoming projectiles, and air raid alerts were issued in affected regions.

Israel’s Home Front Command instructed civilians to enter protected spaces upon receiving alerts and to remain there until further notice.

Spillover Into Lebanon

In parallel operations, the IDF issued evacuation warnings in parts of southern Lebanon ahead of strikes on what it described as Hezbollah-linked targets. Residents in several villages were urged to move north of a designated line for safety.

Separately, residents of certain buildings in Beirut’s southern suburb of Haret Hreik were instructed to evacuate immediately and maintain distance from facilities alleged to be associated with Hezbollah.

Regional Conflict Intensifies

Following the February 28 coordinated strikes, Iran retaliated with ballistic missiles and drones aimed at US assets and allied targets across the region, including Israel and several Gulf states. The exchange has significantly heightened tensions in the Middle East, raising concerns over civilian safety and the potential for further escalation.

With fresh strikes on Tehran and continued missile launches, the confrontation appears to be entering an increasingly volatile phase, with global attention focused on whether diplomatic efforts can contain the expanding conflict.
