IndiGo has announced a major expansion of its domestic network from the Navi Mumbai International Airport, adding more than 30 new routes over a period spanning March 29 to April 23. The move is set to significantly enhance connectivity between Navi Mumbai and several key cities across India, including Agra, Ayodhya, Bagdogra, Belgaum, Chandigarh, Diu, Kannur, Kolkata, Patna, Rajkot, Srinagar, Varanasi and Visakhapatnam.
The airline said in a press release that this expansion will substantially increase travel options for passengers while strengthening regional air connectivity. With the addition of these new routes, IndiGo will operate more than 400 weekly departures from Navi Mumbai, positioning the airport as a key hub in its domestic network.
Strong Push For Regional Connectivity
The expansion reflects IndiGo’s continued focus on improving regional accessibility and connecting emerging and underserved destinations to major urban centres. By linking Navi Mumbai with cities across northern, western, eastern and southern India, the airline aims to cater to both business and leisure travellers.
The inclusion of destinations such as Ayodhya and Agra also indicates a strategic push towards religious and tourism-driven travel demand, while connections to cities like Bagdogra and Srinagar strengthen access to key holiday regions. At the same time, routes to industrial and commercial hubs such as Chandigarh, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam are expected to support business travel.
Industry observers note that the scaling up of operations from Navi Mumbai aligns with broader efforts to decongest Mumbai’s existing airport while unlocking new capacity in the region.
Gujarat Connectivity Gets A Boost
As part of the expansion, IndiGo has also strengthened its presence in Gujarat by launching twice-daily direct flights between Bhavnagar and Navi Mumbai starting Saturday. The route is being operated using ATR aircraft, typically deployed for short-haul regional routes, ensuring efficient and frequent connectivity.
The airline had earlier announced the launch of direct flights to Jamnagar from April 23, further expanding its footprint in the state. With these additions, IndiGo will now connect six cities in Gujarat – Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar – with more than 1,400 weekly flights to and from the state.
This expansion is expected to benefit both business travellers and local passengers by improving access between Gujarat and Maharashtra, two of India’s most economically active regions.
Increased Capacity And Passenger Convenience
The addition of over 30 routes and increased frequency of flights is likely to enhance passenger convenience by offering more scheduling flexibility and reducing travel time between key city pairs. The scale of operations – over 400 weekly departures from Navi Mumbai alone – underlines IndiGo’s aggressive growth strategy in the domestic aviation market.
Passengers can book tickets for these routes through IndiGo’s official website or mobile application, the airline said.
The expansion comes at a time when domestic air travel demand continues to remain strong, with airlines focusing on capacity addition and network expansion to capture growing passenger traffic across tier-II and tier-III cities.
