Uttar Pradesh Enhances Security at Ram Temple with Sniper Deployment

The CSR Journal Magazine

Uttar Pradesh is set to enhance the security measures at the Ram Temple and various high-profile locations through the deployment of specialised snipers. This initiative forms part of a significant upgrade in the state’s security apparatus, which includes the procurement of advanced sniper rifles and surveillance equipment aimed at bolstering safety at sensitive sites.

The snipers will be stationed at critical locations such as the Ram Temple, RRTS facilities, Lok Bhavan, metro installations, and the Allahabad High Court. Officials have confirmed the approval for the acquisition of three high-performance sniper rifles tailored for the Special Security Force (SSF), with each rifle priced at approximately Rs 10.76 lakh.

The selected sniper rifles are identified as the ‘Vidhwansak’ anti-materiel type, intended for engaging fortified targets. These rifles support a range of ammunition including 12.7mm, 14.5mm, and 20mm, allowing them an effective range of 1,300 to 2,300 metres, while weighing between 25 to 29 kg. These characteristics enable them to effectively target installations such as bunkers and radar systems.

Modernisation of Existing Weaponry

The push for modernisation extends beyond the introduction of snipers. The Uttar Pradesh government has also approved plans to replace outdated firearms currently in use by security personnel who are assigned to public representatives. This overhaul aims to ensure that state security forces are equipped with the latest technology and weaponry.

A total of 800 9mm submachine guns along with 2.56 lakh rounds of ammunition will be procured to reinforce the state’s capabilities, amounting to an estimated expenditure of Rs 5.59 crore. This acquisition is intended to enhance operational efficiency and ensure readiness in diverse security situations.

In addition to these measures, the allocation also includes modern firearms for three newly established women battalions within the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). The government has sanctioned around Rs 2 crore for the purchase of 373 pistols and 90 assault rifles, aiming to empower these units with appropriate weaponry.

Focus on Surveillance Improvements

The upgrade in security measures includes the addition of 14 telescopic search mirrors, intended to enhance surveillance capabilities at high-security locations across the state. These technological improvements are expected to further strengthen the monitoring and control of sensitive areas, contributing to overall public safety.

The overarching goal of these initiatives is to secure key installations in Uttar Pradesh amidst increasing security demands. The government aims to establish a robust framework whereby security personnel can efficiently respond to various threats, while simultaneously ensuring the safety of citizens at large.

Through this strategic enhancement of security measures, Uttar Pradesh intends to maintain order and respond effectively to potential challenges that may arise at critical locations, including the Ram Temple and other significant public spaces. This comprehensive approach reflects a commitment to the safety and security of residents and visitors alike.
