Indian Man Recreates Etihad’s Luxury Suite in Dubai Home

The CSR Journal Magazine

An Indian aviation enthusiast has transformed his Dubai apartment by incorporating a segment of Etihad Airways’ luxurious Airbus A380 Residence suite. Arun Rajagopal, who has a profound passion for aviation, has taken this project to an extraordinary level, creating a unique living space that reflects his love for flying. Originally hailing from Kochi, Kerala, Rajagopal has reportedly travelled to 100 countries and has flown on the Airbus A380 an impressive 222 times, including 60 inaugural flights. His extensive flying experience also includes journeys with Emirates to 106 cities.

Rajagopal’s fascination with transport began in his childhood. He joined Emirates in 2012, where he dedicated over eight years to social media roles before transitioning to a communications position at Oracle. His professional background in aviation has further fuelled his enthusiasm for the industry.

Transforming the Apartment with Aviation Memorabilia

Rajagopal’s apartment is adorned with an extensive array of aviation memorabilia, featuring first-class seats from Emirates’ inaugural Airbus A380, various aircraft components, and certificates from inaugural flights. A notable highlight of his collection includes a coffee table fashioned from an A380 wheel. His latest acquisition is the living room section of Etihad Airways’ three-room Residence suite, which comprises a private living area, a separate bedroom, and an en-suite bathroom equipped with a shower.

Initially, Rajagopal intended to purchase only the leather sofa seats from the suite. However, Fawaz Mohammed Ali, the founder of Wings Craft, encouraged him to acquire the entire section. The suite was in a state of significant disrepair and required extensive restoration efforts to make it functional. Engineers worked diligently to repair or replace missing components and adapt the suite’s systems for residential use.

The restoration project was a considerable undertaking, spanning nearly a year and culminating in June 2026. Rajagopal’s commitment to the project reflects his dedication to aviation and his desire to create a unique living environment.

Features of the Luxury Suite

The completed installation boasts a range of modern amenities, including a custom 32-inch television, powered window shades, ambient lighting, USB charging ports, and sliding privacy doors. The transportation of the suite components into his apartment presented logistical challenges, as the pieces were too large for the service lift. Consequently, six workers were required to carry the components up the stairs to the seventh floor of the building.

While Rajagopal has not disclosed the precise financial investment made for this project, he mentioned in an interview with CNN that the expenditure could have been sufficient to purchase a car. For him, the suite serves a purpose beyond mere decoration; it is a functional space where he can relax, watch television, dine, entertain guests, and even work.

Rajagopal’s innovative approach to integrating aviation into his daily life demonstrates a unique blend of passion and creativity. His project not only showcases his love for flying but also highlights the lengths to which enthusiasts will go to create spaces that reflect their interests and experiences.
