Prateek Yadav, brother of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and son of late SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav made an unexpected move. He has confirmed on his social media that he would divorce his wife Aparna Yadav, as she joined BJP. In an Insta post, Prateek Yadav shared a picture of his wife Aparna Yadav and wrote, “I am going to divorce this selfish woman as soon as possible. She ruined my family ties. All she wants to become is famous and influential. Right now, I am in a very bad mental health condition and she doesn’t bother. Because it’s only herself she bothers about. I have never seen such a bad soul, and I was unfortunate to get married to her.”
Prateek is the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife, Sadhna Yadav. He is the stepbrother of Akhilesh Yadav, head of Samajwadi Party (SP). The duo dated each other for very long before formalising their relationship. As per media reports they started dating in 2001 and in 2011, they got engaged and married in 2012. Their wedding is remembered even today as one of the most high-profile weddings that happened in Uttar Pradesh. For their wedding, many personalities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and even Anil Ambani were present.

Who is Aparna Yadav?
Mulayam Singh Yadav’s youngest daughter-in-law and in past was member of the Samajwadi Party. In 2017 she had contested from the Lucknow Cantt Assembly seat on SP ticket, but she had lost to BJP leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi. In 2022, ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, she joined Bharatiya Janata Party after quitting Samajwadi Party. In September 2024, she was appointed the Vice Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission.
Aparna comes from a family, where her father was a journalist and currently the State Information Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, and mother is also a government employee, she is an official of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation. Aparna completed her MA degree in international relations and politics from the University of Manchester and she is a trained classical singer.
Commenting on the post Aparna’s personal assistant Himanshu Rai told a new channel that the post was fake and has been posted by a hacker who hacked Prateek’s account, “Someone has posted an inappropriate message but there is no truth behind it,” Rai said.
