A government Ayurveda doctor, Naveen Yadav (41), was arrested on Monday in Gurugram’s Hayatpur village for allegedly attempting to run over a Swiggy delivery rider with his SUV following a dispute over parking. Police said his Mahindra Scorpio has been seized and an FIR has been registered under charges of attempt to murder and causing grievous hurt.

CCTV Captures the Incident

The incident occurred late Sunday evening near a Swiggy store in Hayatpur, Sector 93. CCTV footage reportedly shows the SUV first hitting a parked bike, fleeing, and then returning to deliberately swerve towards several delivery riders, seriously injuring one of them.

The victim, Tinku (43), from Chandpura ki Dhani in Rewari, was rushed to hospital and is currently undergoing treatment in Rewari. A police spokesperson said, “Naveen, who lives in Bhagat Singh Colony, arrived in his Scorpio with its siren on. He hit the parked bike, and then allegedly drove over Tinku repeatedly with the intention of causing grievous harm. Tinku is currently admitted in Virendra Hospital in Rewari. In his complaint, Tinku stated that the accused allegedly first rammed into his bike, threatened to kill him, and then deliberately drove the vehicle over him two-three times, causing serious injuries.”

Doctor Blames Parking Dispute for Attack

During questioning, the accused told police he had developed resentment against delivery riders who frequently parked near his residence, allegedly blocking the narrow lane. “Naveen said the delivery partner frequently parked his motorcycle in a narrow lane near his residence in Bhagat Singh Colony, which caused inconvenience while taking his vehicle out,” a police officer said. “He carried this grievance for some time and attacked the victim in a fit of rage.”

Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to determine further legal action while the victim continues his treatment.
