Delhi Palam Fire Tragedy: 7 Dead, Including 3 Children; Rescue Ongoing

A devastating fire broke out early Wednesday morning in a multi-storey residential building near Shri Ram Chowk, close to the Palam Metro station in Delhi. The tragic incident claimed at least six lives, including three children, while several others suffered serious injuries, according to officials.

Emergency Response and Rescue Efforts

Authorities received a distress call around 7 am reporting the blaze in Gali Number-2. In response, nearly 30 fire tenders were rushed to the site to control the flames and begin rescue operations. Firefighters worked tirelessly to evacuate residents, as thick smoke engulfed the building and surrounding area.

Officials from Delhi Fire Services stated that the full extent of the damage and casualties will only be confirmed once firefighting and search operations are complete.

People Trapped Inside the Building

According to police officials, nearly a dozen individuals were feared trapped inside the building when the fire broke out. Deputy Commissioner of Police Amit Goel confirmed that police teams are actively assisting fire personnel in rescue operations while closely monitoring the situation.

Eyewitnesses reported chaotic scenes, with residents attempting to escape as smoke rapidly spread through the structure.

Cause Yet to Be Determined

Authorities have not yet identified the cause of the fire. Investigations will begin once the situation is brought under control. Officials emphasized that ensuring the safety of those trapped remains the top priority.
