CSR News: Over 500 water bowls placed across Bengaluru for stray animals

With forecasts predicting one of the hottest summers yet, Pet Care App Supertails has launched ‘Water It Up’, a compassionate initiative to support stray animals across Bengaluru. The campaign involves placing 500+ water bowls in key neighborhoods to ensure animals on the streets have consistent access to clean drinking water.

The drive kicked off on April 8, with 200 bowls already placed across high-footfall areas including Banashankari, Koramangala, HSR Layout, Cubbon Park, Ulsoor Lake, and Indiranagar. The rollout will continue through April, with the goal of reaching 500 bowls across the city.

Bengaluru is currently home to an estimated 50 lakh pets, accounting for 13–15% of India’s pet population. A 2023 Supertails study found that 55% of Bengaluru pet parents spend an average of ₹3,000 per month on pet care—the highest in the country.

Yet, beyond this thriving ecosystem of premium pet parenting, the city faces a pressing challenge: a growing stray population. Bengaluru is home to an estimated 2.8 lakh stray dogs, many of whom suffer silently through the harsh summer months with little access to basic necessities like clean drinking water.

That’s where Water It Up comes in—not just as a campaign, but as a call for shared compassion. On April 11, National Pet Day, Supertails is encouraging Bengalureans to be a part of the solution: every time you see a green Supertails water bowl, fill it up. This small act of kindness could mean everything for an animal enduring the heat on the streets.

To make it easier for citizens to help, Supertails is offering free water bowls to anyone who wants to support strays in their neighborhood. Simply walk into any Supertails+ clinic in Koramangala or Banashankari to collect one.
