CSR Initiative improving learning environment for 2,300 students

The CSR Journal Magazine

TELUS Digital India mobilized over 750 team member volunteers from its Noida and Gurugram offices to completely transform Bihari Lal Inter College, creating a brighter learning environment for more than 2,300 students and 57 teachers.

This landmark initiative represents the fifth school refurbishment project under TELUS Digital India’s signature TELUS Days of Giving (TDOG) program, benefiting more than 6,300 students and teachers across India since 2018, with support from over 2,200 volunteers who have contributed 12,000+ hours to education-focused causes.

Creating learning spaces that inspire

Volunteers from TELUS Digital India helped revitalize 36 classrooms across 5 buildings, refreshing 6 hallways and 2 exterior walls, and painting murals designed to inspire creativity and ambition. Behind the scenes, skilled professionals completed essential infrastructure work to the building, including waterproofing, plumbing repairs, and bathroom facility upgrades.

Additionally, 30 experienced TELUS Digital professionals dedicated three hours to holding mentoring sessions with 60 high school students. Each volunteer guided two students through career exploration, sharing real-world insights and helping them discover paths that align with their interests and talents.

“At TELUS Digital India, we believe education is a powerful equalizer in society,” said Rajiv M.Dhand, Regional Vice President for Asia Pacific and Africa, TELUS Digital. “Beyond renovating facilities, we’re helping to create safe and inspiring environments where over 2,300 students can dream, learn, and grow. Every brushstroke, every repaired wall, and every mentoring conversation represents our commitment to giving these students a learning environment filled with hope and possibility.”

Building better opportunities through education

The impact of collective action was evident throughout the day. Arshad Majeed, TELUS Digital India’s Service Delivery Regional Vice President for Digital Solutions, emphasized during the closing ceremony how initiatives like this demonstrate the multiplying power of shared purpose and teamwork in creating meaningful change.

Adding to this sentiment, Iftikar Ahmad, Operations Vice President at TELUS Digital India, reflected on the long-term vision behind such community work, “That’s the beautiful cycle of giving back – today’s students become tomorrow’s leaders, and tomorrow’s leaders continue lifting up the next generation.”

Strengthening education for a lasting impact

This year’s initiative builds on TELUS Digital India’s consistent commitment to educational transformation. The company’s efforts to support local schools in the communities where their teams live and work have grown over the years. Since completing its first TDOG school refurbishment project in 2018, the company has steadily expanded its impact. During the pandemic years, TELUS Digital shifted its efforts to support education in new ways, before resuming in-person volunteer projects in 2023 and 2024, and now celebrating its fifth milestone project in 2025.

The refurbishment of Bihari Lal Inter College exemplifies TELUS Digital’s global philosophy of “We Give Where We Live,” demonstrating how corporate resources can create measurable community impact. By improving learning spaces and connecting students with industry professionals, the initiative plants seeds of possibility, showing young people that their dreams are within reach.

As TELUS Digital India continues to expand its presence in the region, initiatives like TDOG reinforce the company’s commitment to not just operating in communities, but actively investing in their future – one student, one school, and one dream at a time.
