The CSR Journal Magazine

APM Terminals Pipavav inaugurated a state-of-the-art Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Workshop at its Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Rajula, as a part of its ongoing commitment to  skill and entrepreneurship development among rural youth. The facility is equipped with a high-precision Vertical Machining Centre (VMC), a computer-operated system widely used across the manufacturing sector for milling, drilling, and tapping operations.

The workshop has been designed to provide local youth with hands-on training in precision machining, a highly sought-after skill that enables access to employment opportunities across industrial sectors. It aligns with the company’s long-term vision of building a future-ready workforce and fostering inclusive growth in the surrounding communities.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Girish Aggarwal, Managing Director, APM Terminals Pipavav, said, “At APM Terminals Pipavav, we believe skill development is the cornerstone of community empowerment and resilience. Aligned with the government’s national skills development mission, our focus is on ensuring that the youth in the villages surrounding Pipavav Port are equipped with the practical, industry-relevant skills they need to thrive in the workforce of tomorrow. By fostering real-world capabilities, we are not just preparing individuals for meaningful careers—we are investing in the long-term sustainable growth of our communities and the broader region. Our commitment is to see every young person in our vicinity grow alongside us, contributing to both local progress and India’s economic future.”

The CNC Workshop is part of APM Terminals Pipavav’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mission, which has positively impacted more than one lakh people across 400 villages over the last decade. The company’s Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Rajula, along with two sub-centres and a Virtual Reality Centre of Excellence at Gujarat Maritime University, has trained and placed over 3,000 youth, with women accounting for more than 51 percent of the participants.

By introducing advanced training modules such as the Vertical Machining Centre, APM Terminals Pipavav is enabling rural youth to become job-ready while also creating opportunities for self-employment and industry alignment. Its sustained efforts are enabling rural talent to thrive in the modern, opportunity-rich environment.
