West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized the Narendra Modi government over the WAQF Amendment Bill. She accused the BJP of having a single-point agenda to divide the country, referring to them as the ‘Bharatiya Jumla Party’.
Banerjee also criticised BJP for increase medicine price and said “It is not acceptable”. She also announced that TMC party will show protest against medicine price hike on Friday and Saturday.
Medicine price hike
Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday held a oress conference at Nabanna which is the headquarters of state government. There she said, “I strongly protest. I request (the Centre) to withdraw this decision. We will hold protest rallies and meetings in every block and every civic ward across the state from 4pm to 5pm on April 4 and 5. I would urge the common people to protest. Else this unilateral decision of the Centre would take a heavy toll on health.”
She then attacked Central Government and said, “how much more money central government need to stop their “jumlabaji”. Why people have to give GST in their mediclaim. Where should poor people will go. We can’t accept the price hike of medicine. I also request party MPs to protest against this. They are protesting against wakf bill today. Central government is not honour our constitution. They want to divide our country.”
She further said, Central government increased price of 748 scheduled drug and 80 non-schedule drug. “All drug used to buy by poor people,” said Chief Minister. She then said, “How can one can increase cancer medicine price. We know cancer has no answer. So, how can they increase. Government has to answer.”
Ram Navami
She also criticised BJP on their plan of Ram Navami also. She said, “The Centre has ceased all work meant for the impoverished. Then why is the Union government there? Is it there to introduce a new religion which doesn’t include Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda and our Vedas? Is it there to divide people, the country and to trigger riots?”
She also urged to the people, “I am urging to all religions. Celebrate your festival peacefully. Don’t do riot and also don’t try to instigate riot. You can’t do anything to instigate riot. We will take action.”
