Chirag Paswan Confirms Stability in Bihar, Rejects Leadership Change Speculation

The CSR Journal Magazine

Chirag Paswan, the Chief of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Union Minister, has refuted ongoing discussions regarding a potential leadership change in Bihar. He emphasized that current Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will remain in his position, asserting that the existing government is functioning effectively. Paswan stated, “There is no discussion on changing the Chief Minister. Nitish Kumar will continue to lead Bihar, and our double-engine government is working well.”

Nitish Kumar’s Son’s Political Aspirations Addressed

Addressing rumors concerning the political involvement of Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, Paswan remarked that any decision regarding his entry into politics is a personal one. He explained that it is not worthwhile to speculate on his potential political participation, as he has not previously engaged in public life. “This is his choice, his family’s choice, and his party’s choice. When this decision is made known to our alliance, I will speak on it,” Paswan added. He further expressed encouragement for youth participation in politics, reaffirming that the Prime Minister also supports such engagement.

Rajya Sabha Candidates Still Under Discussion

While clarifying his stance on the leadership issue, Union Minister Chirag Paswan also mentioned that the fifth candidate from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections has not yet been determined. He noted that talks within the alliance have been ongoing for some time, and as the elections approach, they are finalizing candidates. “Discussions are still ongoing,” he stated, while congratulating newly nominated BJP candidate Nitin Nabin for his forthcoming responsibilities.

Rumors on Nitish Kumar’s Possible Resignation Denied

Recently, speculation had arisen concerning Chief Minister Nitish Kumar potentially resigning to transition to the Rajya Sabha. In response, sources from the Janata Dal (United) indicated that this scenario could become a reality soon after the Election Commission of India announced upcoming elections for the upper house. Union Minister Giriraj Singh dismissed these rumors, labeling them as lighthearted pranks on the occasion of Holi, stating, “Nitish Kumar ji is our Chief Minister.”

Details on Upcoming Rajya Sabha Elections

The Election Commission of India has released the schedule for the forthcoming biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha to fill 37 vacancies across ten states, as current members complete their terms in April 2026. The polling date is indicated as March 16, with the counting of votes to occur on the same day at 5 PM.
