CBSE Likely to Announce Registration Dates for Class 10 and 12 Private Candidates by Month-End

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not yet confirmed the registration dates for private candidates planning to appear for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations in 2027. As of September 18, the board’s examination circular page reflects a notification issued on September 10, 2026, which pertains to the submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) for the academic year 2026-27. However, details for private candidates are still pending.

Previous Application Cycle Insights

Last year, for the 2026 board examinations, CBSE released the notifications for Class 10 and Class 12 private candidates on September 8, 2025. Subsequently, the application process commenced on September 9. This previous notification catered to candidates across various categories, including those designated as ‘Essential Repeat’, compartment candidates, and those wishing to improve their scores in one or more subjects. Notably, the notification specific to Class 12 was issued separately for the 2025-26 examination cycle.

The anticipated notification for the upcoming examination cycle is expected to furnish comprehensive details about various aspects such as candidate eligibility, application dates, fee structure, deadlines for late submissions, the subjects available for examination, and the procedure for selecting examination centres.

In the previous cycle, the CBSE highlighted that all applications and payment transactions must be conducted online. Furthermore, any applications submitted beyond the designated deadline were not entertained, emphasizing the need for prospective candidates to await the official announcement before proceeding with their form submission.

Eligibility Criteria and Application Process

It is essential for candidates to thoroughly review the eligibility conditions prior to submitting their applications. During the last application cycle, candidates from prior examination years were obliged to input specific details, including their roll number and year of passing. The board underscored the importance of accuracy, cautioning that any discrepancies could lead to the rejection of applications.

Additionally, careful consideration must be given when selecting the examination city. The city selected in the online application form determines the assigned examination centre. Candidates have been advised to make their choice judiciously, as modifications to the city choice are not permitted once the allotment is completed. This serves as a reminder for candidates to be vigilant in obtaining the most accurate and timely information regarding their application process.

Students are encouraged to regularly monitor the official CBSE website for updates concerning the 2027 private candidate registration details and application link. This vigilance will ensure that they are well-informed and prepared ahead of the impending announcements.
