A British national identified as 76-year-old Ian William Langford was discovered dead in his hotel room at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai on Monday morning. Langford had been in the city since March 24, working as a broadcast engineer for Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.

On March 29, after completing coverage for a match, Langford returned to his room, number 2715. The following day, when hotel staff attempted to contact him via phone and received no answer, they became concerned. Subsequently, a search team, using a master key, entered the room and found Langford lying on the floor.

The hotel’s in-house doctor was called to the scene and confirmed his death. Marine Drive police have since initiated a case of unnatural death and are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event.

Initial reports from authorities indicate that there is nothing suspicious about the situation. Subsequently, Langford’s body was transported to Bombay Hospital for further examination. While the official cause of death has yet to be disclosed, preliminary checks have not revealed any indications of foul play, according to police sources.

Langford had been associated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), working as part of the broadcast team responsible for covering IPL matches at various locations around Mumbai. As the investigation proceeds, Mumbai police are exploring all facets of the incident to understand the circumstances leading to Langford’s untimely death.
