BJP Plans Nationwide Outreach From November 1 to Counter Opposition Campaign Against SIR

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to initiate nationwide outreach programmes starting on November 1, aimed at countering the opposition’s campaign against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. This initiative will reportedly involve several Union ministers and chief ministers from BJP-ruled states. According to sources, the outreach efforts are a direct response to the INDIA bloc’s criticisms regarding the electoral process.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to participate in a “padyatra” organised by the Telangana BJP unit on November 2, which follows a planned rally by the Congress at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi. A senior BJP leader mentioned that various state units will determine their specific strategies to address what they describe as a “fake narrative” propagated by the Congress and other opposition parties against the Election Commission and the SIR process.

The outreach will include marches and media briefings, where senior leaders, including Union ministers, will engage with voters to clarify the objectives and processes involved in the SIR exercise. This comprehensive approach aims to bolster public understanding and support for the BJP’s electoral initiatives.

Telangana BJP’s ‘Save Democracy’ March

In Telangana, BJP state president N Ramchander Rao has announced a padyatra themed “Loktantra Bachao – Arajakta Hatao” (Save Democracy – Remove Anarchy). Rao accused the Congress of attempting to create chaos both in the state and nationally. He confirmed that Amit Shah will be present at the padyatra on November 2, reinforcing the party’s commitment to its message of democratic integrity.

The Telangana BJP’s initiative reflects a broader strategy to mobilise support and counteract the narratives being pushed by the opposition. The padyatra is expected to draw significant participation from party members and supporters, aiming to highlight the BJP’s stance on democracy and governance.

In conjunction with the padyatra, the BJP has also been active in addressing recent controversies surrounding remarks made by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. The party is reportedly organising protests nationwide to demand an apology from Kharge for comments perceived as offensive towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Protests Against Controversial Remarks by Congress President

The BJP has initiated protests across the country in response to remarks made by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who allegedly stated, “Modi ka baap bhi jayega” (even Modi’s father will have to go). This comment was made during an event in Patna commemorating the 139th birth anniversary of Bihar’s first chief minister, Shri Krishna Singh. BJP leaders have condemned the remarks, labelling them as undignified and offensive.

In Bihar, BJP leader Krishna Kumar Singh filed a complaint against Kharge at the Kotwali police station in Patna. Local BJP leaders, including state chief Sanjay Saraogi and minister Ram Kripal Yadav, led a procession that culminated in the burning of Kharge’s effigy, expressing their discontent with his comments.

BJP president Nitin Nabin has intensified the criticism, asserting that the use of such language is indicative of the Congress party’s declining standards. He described it as a hallmark of the party’s legacy, suggesting a trend towards what he termed “complete mental bankruptcy.” The BJP’s actions reflect a strategic effort to galvanise support and counter perceived slights from the opposition.
