BJP Announces Nationwide Marches to Counter Opposition Rally on Nov 1

The CSR Journal Magazine

The opposition will hold a rally titled ‘Vote Save, Country Save’ at Ramleela Maidan in Delhi on November 1. This event aims to address concerns regarding the electoral process and alleged voter fraud. In response, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its preparations and announced a series of marches across the country during the same month. The BJP’s initiative will likely counter the opposition’s claims and engage directly with voters.

BJP Leaders to Participate in Nationwide Marches

Key BJP figures, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Health Minister JP Nadda, are expected to participate in these marches. The BJP plans to commence its campaign on November 1, coinciding with the opposition’s rally. The party has labelled this initiative ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’, reflecting its commitment to addressing the allegations surrounding the electoral process.

The marches will take place in various locations, with Yogi Adityanath leading a march in Lucknow, while Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will conduct a march in Shimla. Other senior leaders, including Rajnath Singh and JP Nadda, will also lead events in different cities. This strategy aims to provide a platform for the BJP to respond to the opposition’s accusations regarding the electoral process and the ongoing changes to the voter list.

The BJP’s campaign will not only consist of marches but also include public meetings, press conferences, and interactions with youth. The first phase of this extensive campaign is scheduled to conclude by November 5, with a second phase planned from November 11 to November 30. The BJP has assigned responsibilities to its central ministers and chief ministers from BJP-ruled states to ensure widespread participation.

Political Tensions Over Voter List Changes

Political tensions have escalated as the opposition accuses the government of undermining the electoral process through alleged voter fraud. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and demands an immediate halt to the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) process. He claims that the integrity of millions of Indian citizens’ voting rights is at stake due to these changes.

In a recent statement, Kharge urged citizens to participate actively in the upcoming rally to safeguard the Constitution and democracy. The opposition’s stance highlights the perceived threats to the electoral rights of the populace, which they allege are being jeopardised by the government’s actions.

In response to the opposition’s claims, Telangana BJP President N. Ramchandra Rao has announced a march in Hyderabad on November 2, where Amit Shah will also participate. Rao has accused the Congress of spreading misinformation regarding the SIR process and challenged opposition leaders to provide evidence of wrongful removal of voters from the electoral rolls.

As the political landscape intensifies, the BJP and opposition parties are gearing up for a significant confrontation over the electoral process. The BJP aims to utilise its marches to communicate its perspective to the electorate, while the opposition plans to leverage its rally to question the government and the Election Commission. This unfolding situation underscores the critical nature of the upcoming electoral discourse in India.
