Nitin Nabin, the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), travelled to Mumbai on September 16, 2026, to partake in the ongoing Ganeshotsav celebrations. This trip marks his first visit to Maharashtra since taking up his role as BJP National President. Upon his arrival, he was greeted at the Mumbai Airport by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other senior party officials.

During the visit, Nabin went to the residence of Eknath Shinde, the state’s Deputy Chief Minister. He attended prayers held before Lord Ganesha, an important deity in Hindu culture, particularly during this festive season. Shinde expressed gratitude for receiving notable leaders from New Delhi, emphasising the significance of their presence during such a key festival.

Significance of Omens and Blessings

Eknath Shinde remarked on the value of high-profile visitors during Ganeshotsav, stating that their presence to seek blessings from Lord Ganesh is noteworthy. He welcomed Nabin and conveyed warm wishes, alongside affirmations of the importance of Maharashtra’s cultural celebrations. Shinde mentioned, “It is a great privilege for us that leaders travel from Delhi to seek blessings during Maharashtra’s Ganeshotsav,” highlighting the collaborative spirit of the event.

Additionally, the Deputy Chief Minister welcomed Union Home Minister Amit Shah earlier in the day, noting the importance of these visits. On the occasion of the festival, Shinde extended heartfelt greetings to all present, reinforcing the unity and significance of such high-profile gatherings in the state.

Nabin also made time to visit another deputy chief minister, Sunetra Pawar, to pay his respects following the passing of her husband, Ajit Pawar. This gesture reflects Nabin’s commitment to maintaining relationships within the political landscape and honouring significant personal losses among political colleagues.

Religious Observances at Prominent Temples

In addition to his visit to Shinde’s residence, Nabin made stops at notable temples in Mumbai, including the Siddhivinayak Temple and Lalbaugcha Raja, both of which are revered sites for worship during Ganeshotsav. These visits exemplify his respect and enthusiasm for the local traditions and rituals that form the bedrock of the festival.
