BJP Sets Poll Targets for Morchas Ahead of 2027 UP Elections

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has established target-based responsibilities for its frontal organisations and morchas in preparation for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. This initiative follows the recent appointment of heads for all seven morchas, which occurred last month. Dharampal Singh, the state general secretary (organisation), will oversee regular reviews to assess the progress of these targets.

State BJP chief spokesperson Dinesh Pratap Singh confirmed that each morcha has been assigned specific objectives aligned with the party’s strategic roadmap for the upcoming elections. The BJP aims to counter the outreach efforts of the Samajwadi Party, particularly its focus on the Pasmanda community. The working committees for the morchas are expected to be announced shortly, further solidifying the organisational structure ahead of the elections.

Among the morchas, Amar Pal Maurya will lead the OBC Morcha, which has been tasked with outreach initiatives at over 1.5 lakh booths where OBC populations are significant. The morcha will promote various welfare schemes, including PM Vishwakarma, OBC scholarships, Mudra, and Ayushman Bharat, while also strengthening mandal-level conventions before December.

Focus Areas for Each Morcha

The Yuva Morcha will concentrate on voter enrolment for individuals aged 18 to 29, engaging in campus outreach and discussions centred on sports and employment opportunities. This demographic focus is crucial for the BJP as it seeks to energise younger voters ahead of the elections.

Similarly, the Mahila Morcha will advocate for schemes such as Lakhpati Didi, Ujjwala, and Poshan, while also working to engage women’s self-help groups. The aim is to enhance the party’s appeal among women voters, a demographic that plays a significant role in electoral outcomes.

The Kisan Morcha will organise meetings with farmers to discuss key issues such as Minimum Support Price (MSP) procurement, PM-Kisan benefits, sugarcane payments, and agricultural infrastructure, with a particular focus on regions like western Uttar Pradesh and Bundelkhand. This engagement is intended to strengthen the party’s connection with the agricultural community.

Outreach Strategies for Reserved and Minority Communities

The Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) morchas will intensify their outreach efforts in reserved constituencies and tribal areas. This targeted approach aims to ensure that the party connects effectively with these communities, which are crucial for electoral success.

Additionally, the Minority Morcha will focus on outreach to the Pasmanda community in 80 assembly segments where the Muslim population exceeds 20 per cent. This initiative is part of the BJP’s broader strategy to engage with minority groups and address their specific concerns.

Other party units, including intellectual, traders, panchayati raj, and labour cells, have been instructed to prepare issue-based reports. A senior BJP leader indicated that Dharampal Singh will review the morchas’ progress every fortnight, while each unit will be required to submit monthly reports detailing booth outreach, conventions, and interactions with beneficiaries of welfare schemes.

The newly appointed morcha chiefs have been directed to finalise their state teams within a week and district units within a fortnight. As the Samajwadi Party and Congress ramp up their outreach through caste-based organisations, the BJP is committed to maintaining an active organisational network from the booth level to the state headquarters in anticipation of the 2027 elections.
