Bihar Elections: ECI’s action continues, over Rs 100 crore cash, liquor and drugs seized, 953 arrested

To make Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 fair and transparent, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has started taking strict action across the state. On the instructions of the Commission, Police, Excise Department, Income Tax Department, Narcotics Bureau and other agencies are jointly running the operation.

In the operations so far, cash, liquor, narcotics and gift items worth more than Rs 100 crore have been seized. Also, more than 953 people have been arrested to maintain law and order. The objective of the Election Commission is clear – every voter should be able to exercise his right to vote without pressure and greed.

Investigation campaign intensified across the state

With the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, vigil has been increased in Bihar. Special teams, flying squads and check posts are active in every district. Their main objective is to prevent attempts to influence voters through illicit cash, liquor and gifts. On October 31, 2025 alone, items worth Rs 1.19 crore were seized, which included cash, liquor and drugs.

More than Rs 100 crore seized so far

According to the report released by the Election Commission of India, a total of ₹100.79 crore has been seized in the operations so far in Bihar. This includes liquor worth ₹39.72 crore, drugs worth ₹21.16 crore, cash worth ₹9.11 crore, precious metals worth ₹5.72 crore and gifts worth ₹25.09 crore. This figure shows that the Election Commission is adopting a zero tolerance policy towards any kind of illegal activity.

The Commission has focused not only on economic matters but also on security and law and order. More than 20,000 non-bailable warrants have been executed so far across the state. 953 people have been arrested under serious laws like NSA and NDPS. 1,049 check posts have been created in various districts of Bihar, where continuous investigation is going on. Along with this, 666 illegal weapons have also been recovered.

Districts received strict instructions

The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has given clear orders to all the District Magistrates and police officers to take immediate action on every complaint, strengthen the monitoring system and provide a completely safe environment to the voters. The Commission has said that this campaign will continue till the end of voting and “there will be no compromise with the sanctity of democracy.”

Appeal to the public to be alert and cooperate in fair elections

The Election Commission has urged voters to immediately report any suspicious activity to the local administration or election helpline. Do not accept any kind of inducement in exchange for voting and exercise your right freely. This is not just an election, but an important step towards clean politics and honest democracy in Bihar.
