Bengaluru Man Allegedly Kills Wife in Dispute, Dies by Suicide; Probe Underway

The CSR Journal Magazine

A tragic incident occurred in Heilalig village, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, where a 31-year-old man reportedly killed his wife during a domestic dispute before taking his own life. The victims have been identified as Deepantha Sabara and his wife Manjula Sabara, aged 27, both originally from Odisha. This distressing event unfolded at their rented residence, where they had been living for approximately 20 days after relocating for work.

Background on the Couple

Deepantha and Manjula were employed at a private company situated in Bommasandra town. The police indicated that the argument prompting the violence stemmed from domestic issues. Initial investigations suggest that the altercation escalated, leading to Deepantha allegedly assaulting his wife with excessive force, resulting in her death.

Discovery of the Bodies

The case came to light on February 26 when Shivakumar, the landlord, was informed by his mother about concerns for the tenants. Upon checking the premises, she discovered Manjula’s lifeless body lying on a couch inside the locked house and promptly notified the authorities. When the police arrived, they found both bodies in a decomposed state, indicating they had likely died nearly two days prior to their discovery.

Evidence Collected by Authorities

During the investigation at the scene, officers recovered a mobile device containing a video recorded by Deepantha. In this heart-wrenching footage, he is seen visibly distressed, mourning near his wife’s body. Additionally, authorities found a suicide note written in Odia, providing further context to the tragic circumstances surrounding the case.

Current Status of the Investigation

The police have since registered a case and are pursuing further investigations into the situation. Following a post-mortem examination conducted at a government hospital, the bodies of Deepantha and Manjula have been returned to their family. Authorities continue to gather evidence and corroborate details of the incident as inquiries progress.
