Bengaluru: Suspecting Affair Husband Beheads Wife, Takes Severed Head to Police, Surrenders!

A gruesome incident has sent shockwaves through the Anekal taluk locality in Bengaluru. Here, a 28-year-old man allegedly beheaded his wife suspecting an affair. He then rode to the Surya Nagar Police Station with her severed head and surrendered for his crimes. The horrific incident occurred late Friday night in Heelalige village near Chandapura in Anekal taluk, on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

What Happened?

According to police reports, the accused is identified as Shankar. Shankar reportedly confessed to killing his 26-year-old wife, Manasa. The murder was followed by a heated argument stemming from suspicions of infidelity. The couple was married for over five years and have a four-year-old daughter.

They had been experiencing frequent disputes over the alleged affair of his wife. Both Shankar and Manasa were employed with private firms in Koramangala and Bommasandra, respectively.

Beheads wife in rage

Police sources also indicate that Manasa had temporarily moved in with her mother due to the marital discord. She returned home on Friday evening, reportedly to reconcile for their daughter’s sake.

However, another heated argument erupted at around 8 PM. Despite Manasa’s denial of any extramarital affair, Shankar, in a fit of rage, beheaded her. Shankar allegedly used a sickle to decapitate her. “Around 8 pm, the couple got into another heated argument. Manasa denied having any affair. During the confrontation, in a fit of rage, Shankar took a sickle and beheaded her,” a senior police officer said.

Ride with severed head to Police station

Preliminary investigations suggest the murder may have been premeditated. The police confirmed Shankar had purchased the sickle from a nearby shop a few days prior to the incident. “He had bought the sickle from a shop near his house a few days ago, which indicates he may have been planning the act,” the officer added.

After committing the heinous act, Shankar left Manasa’s body inside their rented house. He then travelled on his scooter to the police station. Shankar carried her severed head, and he confessed to the crime in front of the authorities.

Police investigation underway

“The couple fought last night. During the fight, the husband beat up his wife, Manasa, and killed her in a gruesome fashion. He decapitated her and then brought it to the police station and confessed to the crime. We have now registered a murder case against him. She allegedly had a relationship, which he learnt when he left for work sometime last week and returned earlier than planned. The couple even have a child, they have been fighting over this incident since last week. Yesterday again, when they fought over the issue, it ended up in her murder and decapitation,” said CK Baba, Superintendent of Police (SP), Bengaluru rural.

Following this, Shankar has been taken into custody, and a case of murder has been registered against him. The severed head, body of the woman and the murder weapon have been recovered. Police personnel from the Suryanagar station immediately rushed to the crime scene. Further investigation is currently underway to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding this shocking incident.
