Bangladesh Horror: 2 Men Rape Hindu Widow, Tie Her to a Tree and Cut Her Hair

The CSR Journal Magazine

A 40-year-old Hindu woman has accused two men of gang rape, severe physical abuse, and public humiliation in Kaliganj, a sub-district of Jhenaidah in central Bangladesh. The alleged incident, which took place on Saturday evening, has drawn attention after claims that the assault was recorded and circulated online.

Land Purchase Followed by Alleged Harassment

In her complaint filed with Kaliganj Police Station, the woman stated that she purchased a three-decimal plot of land along with a two-storey house for about 2 million taka nearly two-and-a-half years ago. The property was bought from a local man named Shahin and his brother in Ward No. 7 of Kaliganj municipality. She alleged that soon after the transaction, Shahin began harassing her and making inappropriate proposals, which she consistently rejected.

Alleged Assault During Family Visit

According to the complaint, the situation escalated on Saturday evening when two relatives from her village were visiting her home. The woman alleged that Shahin, along with another man identified as Hasan, forcibly entered the house and assaulted her. She further claimed that the two men demanded 50,000 taka from her following the attack.

Violence, Humiliation, and Medical Care

When the woman refused to pay the demanded amount, the accused allegedly beat her relatives and chased them away. As she screamed for help, the men reportedly tied her to a tree, cut off her hair, recorded the act, and later shared the video on social media platforms. She also alleged that she was tortured further and eventually lost consciousness.

Local residents later found her and rushed her to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital. Hospital superintendent Dr Md Mostafizur Rahman said the woman initially did not explain the circumstances of her injuries. However, medical examinations later indicated that she had been subjected to abuse.

Police Investigation Underway

After regaining consciousness and receiving treatment, the woman filed a formal complaint naming Shahin and Hasan. Jhenaidah Additional Superintendent of Police Billal Hossain confirmed that her statement has been officially recorded. He stated that police are investigating the allegations thoroughly and assured that strict legal action will be taken if the accusations are proven.
