Anant Ambani’s Speech at Jio IPO Ceremony Moves Mukesh Ambani to Tears

The CSR Journal Magazine

The IPO listing ceremony of Jio Platforms in Mumbai was marked by an emotional display from Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries. His son, Anant Ambani, delivered a heartfelt speech that brought tears to Mukesh’s eyes as he recounted the family’s journey from humble beginnings. Anant’s words resonated deeply as he reflected on the legacy of his grandfather, Dhirubhai Ambani, and the values that have shaped the Reliance Group.

During his address, Anant highlighted the modest home in Chorwad, Gujarat, where Dhirubhai’s aspirations first took root. He shared anecdotes about his grandfather’s early struggles, including his time working at a petrol pump in Aden, where he faced significant challenges without financial resources or connections. Despite these obstacles, Dhirubhai Ambani built a vast business empire, illustrating that an ordinary Indian could achieve extraordinary success through determination and vision.

Celebrating Achievements and Future Aspirations

Anant Ambani also spoke about his father’s ambition to position India as a global leader in various sectors. He cited the Jamnagar refinery, the world’s largest, as a testament to what can be accomplished through hard work and ambition. This example served to inspire those present, reinforcing the idea that the country’s potential is limitless when driven by a shared vision.

He elaborated on the journey of Jio, which was founded with the goal of providing internet access to every Indian citizen. Anant described the listing as a significant milestone not only for the company but also for the community that has supported it. He expressed gratitude for the collective effort that has contributed to Jio’s success, stating, “Today, Jio is shared with India.” He likened the ringing of the stock exchange bell to a temple bell, suggesting that business is akin to a form of worship.

Anant’s speech included a touching tribute to the support Jio has received from across the nation. He remarked, “Jio ko pure desh ne duae di,” translating to “Jio received blessings from across the country.” He noted that mothers expressed their hopes for Jio, grandmothers offered blessings, and friends celebrated the brand, creating a sense of unity and shared purpose.

Acknowledging Contributions and Vision for the Future

The young Ambani also recognised the role of digital access in transforming lives, enabling creators to reach vast audiences and making specialised services more accessible to the public. He extended his gratitude to Jio’s employees, engineers, technicians, service teams, and retail partners, attributing the company’s achievements to their hard work and dedication.

In addition, Anant acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Digital India, emphasising the importance of this initiative in shaping the future of the nation. His sister, Isha Ambani, also took the opportunity to honour Dhirubhai Ambani, recalling his belief that every ordinary Indian should have a stake in the country’s growth and prosperity. The ceremony not only celebrated Jio’s accomplishments but also reinforced the values of inclusivity and ambition that the Ambani family has championed throughout their journey.
