The CSR Journal Magazine

Union Home Minister Amit Shah released the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ in Kolkata on April 10, 2026, as part of the preparations for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections. Shah announced on the platform X that he would present the manifesto with a focus on transforming West Bengal, which he claims is eager for change after years under the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Following the launch, Shah will hold a public meeting in Debra, located in West Medinipur, and will also participate in a roadshow in Kharagpur. The ‘Sankalp Patra’ is anticipated to outline the BJP’s vision for development, security, and welfare, addressing the diverse needs of various community groups across the state.

Main Features of the ‘Sankalp Patra’

Reports suggest that the manifesto will include significant initiatives such as a monthly benefit of Rs 3000 for women, a dedicated healthcare and education package, as well as strategies to enhance industrial growth by establishing new industrial zones. The proposal aims to improve women’s education through the addition of more colleges in various districts, along with a special focus on fisheries and agricultural processing units.

In addition, the document is expected to address youth employment, promising job opportunities and the establishment of new hospitals. The BJP intends to promote a comprehensive approach to development that meets the requirements of various demographic groups, all while committing to a vision of a “developed and fearless Bengal.” Comprehensive welfare measures and development-centred pledges are also part of the agenda.

The development of the ‘Sankalp Patra’ has been a thorough process, commencing in early February and concluded by the month’s end. The party has actively gathered input from a wide range of stakeholders, including industrialists, educators, business leaders, and citizens to ensure a broad representation of ideas.

Public Engagement and Outreach Campaign

In a bid to engage the public, the BJP launched an outreach initiative named “Bikosito Paschim Banga Sankalp Patra – Paramarsha Sangraha Abhiyan” on February 7. This campaign has been aimed at collecting public suggestions and reflecting the aspirations of the citizens for the 2026 Assembly elections. Party workers interacted directly with the community through booths and household visits, aiming to capture the concerns and dreams of everyday Bengal residents.

The initiative has reportedly embraced a diverse range of suggestions, resulting in over eight lakh contributions, including from the Bengali diaspora through various channels. Citizens were encouraged to submit proposals using multiple methods such as a dedicated phone line, emails, and QR codes, with “Akanksha Sangraha Baksho” (aspiration boxes) also placed in various districts for written feedback.

The main objectives of the outreach engage in the elimination of perceived years of exploitative governance and corruption, while promising job creation and transparent administration in West Bengal. The BJP’s campaign revolves around the vision of bringing local job opportunities back for talented youth and enhancing the region’s socio-economic landscape.
