Shubh Sarang’s Transition to Full-Time Content Creation
The decision to leave a stable corporate job was significantly influenced by a Rs 1 lakh brand deal for Shubh Sarang, a content creator based in Mumbai. This milestone provided him with the confidence to pursue content creation on Instagram as a full-time career. Sarang’s journey was not without its challenges, including sleepless nights and financial anxieties, as he attempted to balance the demands of both his corporate role and his burgeoning social media presence.
Initially, Sarang had been hesitant to resign from his corporate position due to the security that a fixed monthly salary provided. With various financial commitments, including EMIs and daily expenses, he worried about whether content creation could sustain him financially. However, the first payment from a brand collaboration opened his eyes to the potential earnings from his social media efforts, making the prospect of a full-time transition seem more attainable.
Growth of Sarang’s Social Media Presence
When Sarang began his content creation journey, he had around 10,000 followers. His content quickly gained traction, leading to a surge in audience engagement. Within a couple of months, his follower count skyrocketed to one lakh, and a subsequent video helped him reach two lakh followers. This rapid growth attracted lucrative brand opportunities, with companies offering him between Rs 1.3 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh for individual videos.
As his social media earnings increased, Sarang found himself earning between Rs 2.2 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh monthly from content creation. This substantial income, reportedly three to four times his corporate salary, ultimately led him to make the decision to resign from his job. The financial success of his social media career provided the necessary reassurance to take this significant step.
Despite the impressive growth in his earnings, Sarang’s journey was not without its sacrifices. While maintaining a corporate job from 9 am to 6 pm, he would return home for a brief respite before embarking on content shoots. His evenings were consumed by hours of video editing, often extending late into the night, resulting in a demanding routine that left him fatigued. Sarang recounted instances of falling asleep at his desk as he struggled to manage both responsibilities effectively.
Life After Quitting the Corporate Job
Now that he has transitioned to full-time content creation, Sarang no longer faces the pressures of office targets or the stress associated with corporate management. He described his previous work environment as filled with “Microsoft hassles,” which he is relieved to have left behind. This newfound freedom allows him to focus entirely on his creative pursuits and engage more deeply with his audience.
While Sarang has achieved considerable success, he advises caution to others considering a similar path. He emphasised that his experience should not be viewed as a blanket endorsement for everyone to abandon stable jobs. Sarang himself had concerns about meeting his financial obligations without a regular salary, and he recognised the uncertainties that come with such a decision. It was only when his earnings from content creation consistently exceeded his corporate salary that he felt secure enough to make the switch.
Sarang’s journey has resonated with many, as evidenced by the popularity of his recent video, which has garnered over 990,000 views. He currently boasts a following of over 233,000 on Instagram, reflecting his growing influence in the digital space.
