The CSR Journal Magazine

An Akasa Air aircraft was damaged on Monday after a cargo truck collided with it at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The plane was parked at the time of the incident.

According to airline officials, the cargo truck was being operated by a third-party ground handling service when it came into contact with the stationary aircraft.

“A third-party ground handler, while operating a cargo truck, came in contact with an Akasa Air aircraft that was parked at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai,” a spokesperson for the airline said. “The aircraft is currently undergoing a thorough inspection, and we are investigating the incident in coordination with the third-party ground handler,” the spokesperson added.

The extent of the damage has not yet been officially confirmed. However, photographs from the site show that one of the aircraft’s wings was torn and appeared to have pierced slightly into the truck involved in the collision.

An internal investigation has been launched by the airline to assess the damage and determine the cause of the mishap.
