After Stabbing Sister to Death, UP Man Tells Cops Breakup Sparked the Attack

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a tragic incident in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, a man has been apprehended for allegedly murdering his twin sister and attempting to attack his mother. The shocking events transpired shortly after the siblings returned home for the Holi festival from Gurugram. The accused, identified as Hardik, fled the scene following the incident but was captured by police during a search operation on March 7. During questioning, he reportedly revealed that emotional turmoil following a breakup prompted him to commit the act of violence.

Details of the Relationship and Emotional Distress

Authorities indicated that Hardik had developed a romantic relationship with a woman from Pune through social media. This relationship, which lasted several months, ended approximately seven months ago. Hardik confessed to feeling intense depression following the breakup, a condition he believed was exacerbated by his mother Neelima and twin sister Himshikha’s attempts to comfort him. He reportedly expressed to investigators that he started to feel resentful towards his family, holding them partially responsible for the dissolution of his relationship.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Assault

The incident occurred in Buddhi Vihar Colony, specifically within the jurisdiction of the Majhola police station. Neelima, the twins’ mother, is employed as an assistant manager at a health insurance firm on Delhi Road in Moradabad. The siblings had returned to celebrate Holi a day prior and were preparing to return to Gurugram on the day of the tragic occurrence. Investigators shared that an argument erupted between Hardik and Himshikha, allegedly after she advised him to move on from the relationship. In a sudden, violent outburst, Hardik is said to have retrieved a kitchen knife and attacked her multiple times.

Emergency Response and Medical Intervention

Upon hearing Himshikha’s screams, Neelima rushed to her aid and was met with a horrifying scene, finding her daughter critically injured. The situation escalated further when Hardik also attacked Neelima before fleeing the house. Neighbors, alerted by the commotion, arrived quickly and called for medical assistance. Both mother and daughter were transported to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced Himshikha dead upon arrival. Neelima survived the attack, sustaining serious injuries but has since been stabilized.

Postmortem Findings and Investigation Developments

A postmortem examination revealed the severity of the assault on Himshikha, detailing over 40 stab wounds, signifying a violent and uncontrolled attack. In contrast, Neelima had sustained approximately six stab wounds but is recovering. According to police, Hardik’s erratic behavior had escalated following the breakup, leading to increasing family tensions. Neelima informed authorities that her son’s emotional state had noticeably deteriorated, contributing to a hostile environment at home.

Charges Filed and Judicial Custody

Law enforcement has formally registered a murder case against Hardik, who is now in judicial custody as the investigation progresses. The tragic events have shocked the local community, drawing attention to the significant impact of mental health issues following traumatic personal experiences.
