Abhijeet Dipke Heckled at Delhi Airport After Arrest of Fellow CJP Members

The CSR Journal Magazine

Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), was reportedly heckled at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport upon his return to the capital. The incident occurred as he was exiting the airport after a brief visit to his hometown. Eyewitnesses claimed that a man in the crowd shouted accusations, labelling Dipke a “CIA agent.”

Another individual confronted him with the question, “Kyun desh ko kharab kar raha hai?” which translates to “Why are you ruining the country?” This confrontation highlights the tension surrounding Dipke’s political activities.

Background of the Protest

Dipke’s return to Delhi came shortly after his party’s co-convenors, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, joined a controversial protest at Jantar Mantar. The two allegedly breached security by climbing over a gate to access an area that the government had earlier denotified as a designated protest site. Their actions were aimed at protesting against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the current administration.

Following their actions, authorities placed both Das and Ranka in five-day judicial custody by a special executive magistrate court in Delhi. Prior to their detention, Das and Ranka had reportedly signed a bond agreeing to “maintain peace for a year.” Their decision to protest, despite the risks involved, has drawn significant attention and criticism.

The incident has raised questions about the right to protest in India, particularly in light of recent government actions regarding designated protest sites. In response to the judicial custody of his co-convenors, Dipke publicly challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare a state of Emergency.

He expressed his views through a video shared on X, where he highlighted the implications of the duo’s actions and the broader context of dissent in the country. Dipke asserted that Das and Ranka were aware of the potential consequences of their protest but proceeded with their plans, which included unfurling the national flag.

Statements from Abhijeet Dipke

In his video statement, Dipke accused Prime Minister Modi of creating an environment where even the act of hoisting the national flag has become contentious. He stated, “Under Narendra Modi, even hoisting the national flag has become a violation of the law in this country.” This assertion reflects his perspective on the current political climate and the treatment of dissenters in India.

Dipke further challenged the Prime Minister, saying, “If you have the courage, officially declare an Emergency. Stop hiding behind the police like cowards.” He called for an open declaration that dissent would not be tolerated, suggesting that the only acceptable slogan would be “Har Har Modi, Ghar Ghar Modi.”

His remarks underscore the growing discontent among certain political factions regarding the government’s stance on protests and free speech. Additionally, Dipke claimed that Modi does not respect the national flag, the citizens of India, or the Constitution. His statements have sparked discussions about the limits of political expression and the rights of citizens to voice their opinions in the current socio-political landscape.
