What we need is Individual Social Responsibility: Anshu Gupta
Anshu Gupta realised the need of clothing for the first time during one of his visits to Old Delhi. He once accompanied a Habib, (professional unclaimed body collector) on a December night to Khooni Darwaza, an area in the heart of the city. He saw a man wearing nothing but a thin cotton shirt who had clearly died of cold. He felt the significance of clothing as a development need rather than a disaster relief material. It was later in 1999 that he along with his wife started Goonj, a not for profit organisation that works on the ‘biggest disaster- poverty.’ He was honoured with Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2015 with Sanjeev Chaturvedi.
