A chilling crime case of murder has rocked the state of Telangana. Here, a 16-year-old girl allegedly conspired with her 19-year-old boyfriend and his younger brother to murder her mother. All because her mother had objected to their relationship. The murder occurred on the night of June 23 in Jeedimetla, a suburb in Medchal district.
Love Affair Turns Fatal
According to reports, the teenage girl is a Class 10 student. She had been in a relationship with Pagilla Shiva Kumar, a Class 12 student and DJ. The girl met him on Instagram in December 2024. Initially, her mother, Satla Anjali (39), allowed Shiva to stay at their home. However, tensions arose when Anjali began opposing the relationship. Anjaly allegedly started demanding rent money from Shiva, even resorting to blackmail.
Anjali’s disapproval turned fatal after she filed a kidnapping case against Shiva on June 19 when the girl eloped with him. Following her complaint the police traced the girl to Shiva’s grandparents’ house in Suryapet. They brought her back, and sent Shiva for counselling. The incident led to daily quarrels between the mother and daughter, eventually ending with her murder.
Premeditated Murder on June 23
According to reports, on the evening of the crime, the girl sent her 14-year-old younger sister out of the house under a false pretext. Once the house was empty, Shiva and his 18-year-old brother Pagilla Yashwanth entered the house. The trio used a nylon chunni to strangle Anjali. The trio reportedly hit her on the head with iron rods.
However, thinking she was unconscious but alive, the boys fled the scene. When the younger sister returned, she found her mother unresponsive. The younger sibling immediately alerted the elder one. Pretending to call an ambulance, the girl instead contacted the two boys again. Both returned and strangled Anjali a second time to confirm her death.
History of Abuse Alleged
During the investigation, Balanagar DCP Suresh Kumar revealed that the girl was Anjali’s daughter from a previous marriage. She allegedly faced neglect and emotional abuse at home. This was especially after her mother’s remarriage and the birth of her half-sister. The teen had even filed a police complaint in seventh grade and was temporarily placed in a shelter home due to alleged mistreatment.
Younger Sister Breaks the Silence
Police report suggests that after the murder, the girl warned her younger sister to remain quiet. However, the child informed their aunt, who lodged a formal police complaint. Police swiftly arrested all three accused on June 24. During questioning, they confessed to their roles in the crime.
Anjali’s body was taken to Gandhi Hospital, where autopsy reports confirmed death by strangulation. Meanwhile the police have registered a case, and the investigation is ongoing.
