Yogi Govt Approves ₹9.8 Crore to Modernize 14 District Hospitals in Uttar Pradesh

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a significant move to strengthen healthcare delivery in underserved regions, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sanctioned ₹9.80 crore for upgrading medical infrastructure in 14 government hospitals across Uttar Pradesh. The decision aligns with the state’s long-term blueprint, ‘Viksit UP 2047’, which aims to ensure that every district has access to advanced, high-quality healthcare facilities.

Improving Access in Rural and Backward Districts

The latest funding gives priority to areas where diagnostic services and modern equipment remain limited. With this investment, patients from rural, remote, and economically weaker regions will no longer need to travel to major cities for essential tests or specialized treatment. The move is expected to significantly reduce the load on Lucknow’s central hospitals and other tertiary medical centres across the state.

Detailed Allocation Across Districts

According to the government’s approval order, the funds will be distributed among several district hospitals for the procurement of modern medical tools, diagnostic machines, and essential healthcare upgrades.

Key allocations include:

  • ₹2.70 crore for Ramsagar Mishra Joint Hospital, Sadhamau BKT

  • ₹1.52 crore for District Women’s Hospital, Balrampur

  • ₹1.56 crore for District Hospital, Rae Bareli

  • ₹1.16 crore for District Joint Hospital, Maharajganj

Smaller but significant grants have also been approved for other hospitals:

  • ₹28.55 lakh for District Joint Hospital, Baghpat

  • ₹3.35 lakh for Diwan Shatrughan Singh Joint Hospital, Hamirpur

  • ₹8.68 lakh for Women’s Hospital, Harraiya, Basti

  • ₹38.96 lakh for Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Joint District Hospital, Etawah

These funds will help fill critical gaps in medical testing infrastructure and basic health services in their respective regions.

Focus on Advanced Diagnostic Capacity

A major portion of the sanctioned amount will be directed toward purchasing equipment such as CT scan machines, X-ray systems, and other diagnostic tools vital for identifying life-threatening conditions like cancers, neurological disorders, and cardiac diseases. With these machines available locally, doctors will be able to diagnose and treat serious cases faster, preventing delays caused by referrals to far-off hospitals.

The government noted that improved diagnostic capacity at district-level hospitals will drastically reduce waiting times, helping patients access timely and affordable medical care. It also supports the broader goal of strengthening hospitals to meet WHO-recommended standards.

A Step Toward Decentralized, Affordable Healthcare

Officials emphasized that this initiative is an integral part of Uttar Pradesh’s ongoing efforts to decentralize healthcare and raise the quality of services available at the grassroots level. With consistent investments in infrastructure, equipment, and modernization, the government aims to bridge the gap between rural and urban healthcare systems.

By upgrading hospitals in 14 districts in one go, the Yogi administration hopes to build a robust foundation capable of supporting the state’s growing healthcare needs in the coming decades.
