The spiritual drama ‘Hanuman Ansh’, which is currently enjoying its theatrical release, will have a sequel. Producer Namrata Singh has confirmed that the production team is already considering a number of high-profile cameos for this follow-up project. Among the prospective names are prominent figures.

These include Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Julia Roberts, all of whom have been approached for potential appearances in the film. Singh stated that some of these personalities are already familiar with the film’s premise. She noted that discussions have taken place and they expressed awareness of the project.

However, no actual confirmations regarding their participation have been made yet. The prospect of featuring Sharma and Kohli, given their known spiritual inclinations, presents a unique angle. Julia Roberts’ connection with Neem Karoli Baba has also been publicly acknowledged, adding further intrigue to the discussions regarding the film.

Focus on Indian Devotees

According to Singh, the sequel will primarily focus on the lives of Indian devotees and the teachings of Neem Karoli Baba. Singh, who has been a devotee for 14 years, and Vishal Chaturvedi, the director, for 20 years, aim to share personal narratives that reflect their spiritual journeys.

They intend to keep the essence of Baba’s life and teachings central to the sequel’s storyline. Singh emphasised that there are numerous devotees whose experiences are integral to the narrative. She clarified that while international stories may feature in the future, the current focus remains strongly on Indian perspectives, particularly through the lens of the Kainchi story.

The team aims to extend the narrative of Neem Karoli Baba’s life through a trilogy, with the first film serving as an introduction. Singh elaborated that there are rich stories from countless devotees, which the team wishes to bring to the forefront of global audiences.

Locations and Future Installments

Director Vishal Chaturvedi also confirmed that the storyline for ‘Hanuman Ansh 2’ will progress through various locations tied to Neem Karoli Baba’s life. According to reports, the sequel will commence in Firozabad, the birthplace of the spiritual leader, and will subsequently cover significant sites in Agra, Mathura, and more.

The plan is to delve deeper into the chapters of Baba’s life that did not make it into the first film. Chaturvedi revealed that this sequel has always been part of a larger vision, conceived as an initial chapter of a trilogy inspired by his book ‘Divine Detour’.

Despite an understated release, ‘Hanuman Ansh’ has gained a substantial audience through positive word of mouth, surpassing Rs 60 crore in box office collections. As of the 35th day since its release, the film’s total gross stood at Rs 192 crore, which further fuels anticipation for the sequel as audiences continue to engage with the narrative.
